Hitting Pause

Connection revistedThe Connection Revisited Mood Lady is all about hitting the Pause button. She’s here to remind us of the importance of taking a step back. As we are smack dab in the middle of the year, she thought it was a perfect time to come out and play.

In our world today, it’s easy to go, go, go. People tell me often that they have a difficult time slowing down because they are used to a certain kind of pace.

Our work places, our family life, our interests – they all lure us into this cycle of doing that is difficult to break unless we make a conscious decision to do it. There is often a lot of judgement about how much we are doing or not doing. We can make it mean more than it really means – equating our value or worth, somehow, by how much we are getting done or accomplishing.

By remembering to re-visit Connection, you can continuously check in on the ‘being’ rather than the doing. Hitting Pause allows you to stop for a bit and take a breath or two.

Who are you being these days? What and who are you filling your time with? How often are you connecting with you – with all the parts of you that want to be expressed? How much Joy are you experiencing? And how about things like Play or Creativity or other life elements that are important to you?

Many times people shy away from these questions and this process because they are afraid of what they might see. But this isn’t a process of judgment or self-condemnation. It’s simply about being curious about where you are. Are you on track? If not, what small shift can you make to alter your course?

When we don’t incorporate the Pause button in our lives, the circumstances and situations of life can easily wrap us up and take us places without our consent. We can get off course and feel as if we’re treading water or even sinking, struggling for air.

The Pause button is like a little buoy allowing us to get a breath, re-connect and then decide which route will suit us best to get us where we want to go. This week….Pause. Re-connect. Enjoy some time getting some air. Notice where you’ve been so far this year, what you’ve learned and where you’re headed next.
